Upcoming Socials
The NWSFS Social is a (mostly) monthly gathering of local
Fen that provides the opportunity to get together with fannish friends, as well as providing the potential to make new ones. We all have very hectic lives and the social is chance to kick back and socialize with other people with similar interests.
Typically socials are held in the home of a local member, but occasionally we have socials at local attractions, giving members an excuse to visit cool places like museums for which we all too often don't have time. Socials can stretch the mind by encouraging intellectual discourse beyond "So what happened at work today?" or "What new antics is your kidlet up to?" While these can be interesting ...to some.., fannish minds need more challenging stimuli!
Note these upcoming socials on your calendars.

September NWSFS Social
Location Changed
Due to a family schedule conflict we
won’t be able to attend the Portland Pirate Festival this year.
So, we’ll host a social at our home.
Please join NWSFS for a Social on
Saturday September 18, 2010 at the home of Becky and Michael
Citrak. 7701 Bobcat Dr SE, Olympia, WA, 98503 - 360.456.7441.
The social will begin around 5 PM and continue until around 10
PM, or whenever we get tired.
Please let us know if you plan to
attend (yeses and maybes), so we'll know if we have enough
goodies. Email to
info@nwsfs.org
Themed: Stuffies! Bring
your favorite, prizes for best costumes, most unusual and maybe
other categories.
We'll have some burgers and hot
dogs, and a new grill (bought last year), and we suggest you
bring anything else that you may want to grill. As usual, this
is a potluck, so bring your contribution of a main dish
(occasionally have enough), side dish (rarely have enough),
munchies (usually have enough), or dessert (often have enough,
if there is such a thing as enough dessert).
Extra credit will be awarded for
themed foods.
Bring your own beverages if you want
something particular, although some basic beverages will be
available.
We show themed movies in the rec
room.
NWSFS members are encouraged to
attend, and non-members in the SF/Fannish community are welcome,
as always.

Saturday, August 21st at Greg Paddock’ home in Fall City
Please join us Saturday, August 21st at Greg Paddock’s place in Fall City for a NWSFS Social!
We’ll start at 5:00 PM p.m. and continue until around 10 PM. This is a potluck so please bring your contribution of a main dish (occasionally have enough), side dish (rarely have enough), beverage, munchies (usually have enough), or dessert (often have enough, but then really, who could object to too much dessert). Let's start early, so if the weather is good we can enjoy the deck that's half as large as the house! Bring any folding chairs, tables, and pavilions you have (really, it's a large deck) There is a small barbecue if anyone wants to use it.
Address:
33517 SE 51st St., Fall City
(map)
Phone:
425-222-9354
Directions:
- Take I-90 east to exit 22, Preston-Fall City.
- Turn left at the stop sign.
- Turn right at the tee onto Preston-Fall City Road SE (route 203).
- After 3.5 miles on, there will by a Y in the road; follow the main route to the right, then take the next right into River View Park.
- Turn left immediately.
- Follow the main road to the right and up the hill.
- Continue around and uphill, my place will be on the left, with the house number on a sign in the yard.
- If you use Google's directions, the house will be on the right.
Parking Note:
The first couple of lucky drivers get to drive up the steep driveway and park above the house, the rest can park along the road. Since the upper parking is not visible from the street, best to walk up and check first. Note: this is not a very accessible place. There's the afore-mentioned steep driveway, and both entrances to the house involve gravel and several steps.
